The Carbon Crushers are back to support TransForm and Safe Routes to Schools, and honor our friend: Fearless 2013 Team Captain, dancing queen, and cycling speed demon, Rachel Davidman. Whether you knew Rachel or not, all are welcome to join our team in celebration of her vibrant spirit and passion for our planet.
Funds raised by the Carbon Crushers during the June 12-16 ride will support TransForm and its Safe Routes to Schools program, where Rachel spent eight years as the visionary Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools Education Program Director.
For more than twenty years, TransForm has advanced social equity and climate justice through transportation and land use solutions. With diverse partners in the Bay Area and across California, they engage communities in planning, run innovative programs, and win groundbreaking policy change at the local, regional, and state levels.
TransForm has been a leader in the Safe Routes to Schools movement, helping institutionalize the program in all nine Bay Area Counties, and started Alameda County’s program in 2006. With over 200 Alameda County public schools participating, it's now one of the largest Safe Routes programs in the country, continuously serving tens of thousands of young people in the Bay Area.
Where there is loss, there must be hope. Rachel died just days after the devastating fall 2018 Climate Fires ravaged California. We’re riding for TransForm because we believe in their integrated, hopeful solutions to help California limit and cope with the effects of climate change. We hope you will help by making a donation to support a program that guided Rachel's passion for building a better world and protecting the planet.
