Something about decade birthdays makes me want to do crazy things! At 30-ish, it was my one and only triathlon, at 40, it was my one and only marathon and now at 50, it's a fifty-mile walk! (Yes, I know Climate Ride calls it a run, but if you read carefully, they welcome fast hikers, which is pretty close to medium paced walkers! :-)) The great thing about my walk is that it supports charities that I am passionate about. Most of you know that I have worked with Los Gatos Safe Routes to School ever since moving back to the bay area. Living in Holland opened my eyes to how easy it is to use a bicycle for transportation. Even though there are more challenges here without the separate, traffic light controlled bike lanes, Los Gatos is working hard to make the community more bike and pedestrian friendly. Climate Ride will donate a large portion of the money that I raise to Safe Routes to School. And the rest, Climate Ride provides in grants throughout the US to raise awareness of climate change, to work on sustainable solutions, and to advocate for active transportation! I am excited to be able to help the organization that is doing so much to advocate for walkers and bikers, but I need YOUR HELP.
Your generous donation is an investment in a healthier, safer future and will help Climate Ride to make this a reality.
