Who is Eric Sweetman
After completing my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, I developed an interest in renewable energy and the clean energy transition. Having a comprehensive understanding of the effects that we as a species have had and continue to have on our environment has motivated me to use my skills and make life choices that will allow me to contribute in some little way to the planet. I continue to teach individuals in my life about a variety of themes, including the worldwide transition to renewable energy, the sustainability of our land and food supplies, and many more
Personally, I adore to go for runs. It is an extremely beneficial athletic activity, both physically and psychologically. It is a fantastic way to explore our magnificent globe and provides opportunity to visit some remote spots. This love of running eventually led me to ultramarathons, which I've accomplished on various occasions throughout the years. I've met so many amazing folks as a result of these experiences. My wanderlust has driven me to travel outside of the United States for these events. I'm going to take part in my first stage races, which will require me to run for several miles over multiple days in the rural areas of Uzbekistan and Cambodia. I will be sharing my experiences on Strava, I encourage you to follow me.
What is the connection between this desire for climate action and running and a fundraiser? That's an excellent question; a buddy suggested I run for a cause. I liked the idea and looked for a charitable group that focused on both of my interests; I found Climate Ride. The organizations I choose to focus on give a comprehensive range of climate action from current scientists working on the difficulties we face, particularly the Union of Concerned Scientists. My selection for Climate One was based on the people who are really implementing climate change, or the "boots on the ground." Finally, I wanted to find an organization that was focused on children and future generations, so I picked Climate Generation.
Please support my personal effort to raise funds and awareness for sustainable climate solutions and active transportation!
I'm joining the fight for our planet’s future by challenging myself physically and raising funds — but I need YOUR HELP! Some days it can be hard to know how you can help in this cause, but by supporting my efforts right now, you will truly make a difference.
Climate change affects all of us. It impacts public health crises, natural disasters, leads to economic downturns, and so much more. More than ever, people like us need to come together and work toward a sustainable, green future. I’m taking personal action by raising crucial funds to support organizations who are putting sustainability issues at the forefront of their mission. A great way that you too can help create meaningful, lasting change is to support my fundraising for Climate Ride!
I'm putting substantial effort into this cause by training for a multi-day, long-distance physical feat, and by raising money that will be granted to non-profit organizations that I really believe in. Your generous donation will help my beneficiaries work to turn the tide, build the green economy, advocate for vulnerable communities, and secure our energy future.
You can make a secure online donation today by clicking on the 'Support Me' button. You'll automatically receive an acknowledgment, and I will be notified by email of your generous support.
Thank you for your help — you’re part of the positive change we so desperately need!
P.S. Climate Ride events are unique and life-changing experiences. Their organization delivers millions of dollars in grants each year to other nonprofits in the fields of bike advocacy, conservation, and climate solutions around the U.S. To sign up for your own amazing Climate Ride experience, you can check out their events list here!
